Tucson student kills two armed intruders in overnight home invasion

A 23-year-old college student in Tucson, Arizona, fatally shot two armed intruders who broke into his home in the early hours of 16 October 2025. Police confirmed no evidence linked the student to any criminal activity. The incident follows a similar case in 1977, where an elderly man in Fowler, California, was attacked in his own home by an intruder wielding a knife.

In the 2025 Tucson incident, the student awoke to find two masked men entering his house after midnight. One intruder, armed and advancing, was shot in the shoulder with a rifle. Despite the wound, the attacker kept moving forward, prompting the student’s younger brother to strike him with a shotgun. A second intruder then appeared, also armed, leading the student to fire again. Both assailants died at the scene.

The Tucson student acted in self-defence, with police finding no wrongdoing on his part. Both cases involved homeowners and their families confronting armed intruders. Investigations into the 2025 incident remain ongoing.
