Green Bay Packers Tight End Tucker Kraft's Status Uncertain for Week 3

Tucker Kraft, a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, is questionable for the Green Bay Packers' Week 3 matchup against the Cleveland Browns due to a minor injury. Kraft, who played for South Dakota State, had a breakout game against the Commanders in the previous week, catching six passes for 124 yards and a touchdown.

During practice on Thursday, Kraft hurt his left knee, causing uncertainty about his availability for the upcoming game. Head coach Matt LaFleur described the injury as a "little tweak," but the decision on Kraft could go up until game time on Sunday.

Last season, Kraft recorded 50 catches for 707 yards and seven touchdowns, suggesting another significant jump in statistics for the early part of the 2023 season. If Kraft is unable to play, Luke Musgrave would likely step into the starting tight end role.

Jayden Reed, another wide receiver for the Packers, is out due to a fractured collarbone. Reed underwent surgery for the injury and has been placed on IR. With Reed out, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden, and Luke Musgrave may see more targets.

Should Kraft miss time, the Packers have other options at tight end. Ben Sims and John FitzPatrick are currently on the active roster, while Josh Whyle is on the practice squad. The injury is not expected to keep Kraft off the field long-term.

Despite the uncertainty, Kraft is one of three tight ends with a touchdown in both games this season, along with Zach Ertz of the Commanders and Davis Allen of the Rams. The Packers will be hoping for Kraft's swift recovery ahead of the crucial Week 3 game against the Browns.
