The Kreisliga fate hangs in the balance for TSV Haar after a thrilling 1:0 loss in the relegation return match against TSV Ottobrunn, following a 1:1 draw in the first leg.

Echoes of the desperate battle resonated across 1,350 kilometers, as Matthias Schmidt, Ottobrunn's sports director, anxiously followed the action from Valencia, Spain. Fueled by tension all week, Schmidt's nerves were wrought as he watched the livestream, thanks to some fortunate connectivity.

Approximately 624 spectators filled the stands for the nail-biting showdown. Despite the absence of a visual feast, the match remained captivating until the final whistle. "Both teams were focused on avoiding missteps initially," Schmidt observed.

However, the scene shifted drastically in the 67th minute, as a defensive blunder by the hosts allowed Philipp Möbius to capitalize on a chaotic situation and score the decisive goal from the baseline, leaving Schmidt in awe.

Multiple opportunities presented themselves on both sides, with the best chance belonging to Ottobrunn's Anton Hofer, who was stalled by a foul from Marius Pollok. The red card for the Haar player in the 90.+5 was an inevitable consequence of the mistake, but the guests also exited with a diminished team, with Markus Hainzl, Jetmir Murati, and Noah Jeremies each receiving yellow cards.

Schmidt emphasized that the game was indicative of a typical relegation contest. While he acknowledged the abundance of send-offs, he clarified that they were not reflective of excessive aggression on the pitch: "The red card for Haar was a clear foul, and ours were two ordinary fouls and a minor scuffle." Despite the tense exchanges, Schmidt conceded that the match was evenly matched, praising Haar for their performance and fair-minded approach during the games.

Although not a work of aesthetic beauty, the win serves as an essential triumph for the Ottobrunn team, as they secure their place in the Kreisliga for another season. Schmidt summarizes their season-long efforts, stating, "The team deserves to remain in the league for their accomplishments throughout the season." Planning for the future is already underway, with the possibility of one or two new acquisitions, ensuring the core team remains intact. Coach Thomas Seethaler, who held the team together throughout the rigorous competition, will continue to lead the team into the next season, as they begin preseason training on Tuesday, July 15, at Haidgraben.
