Life in ChaoTown: Why the Summer Lull Faded and Where Did It Go?

Trump's visit to Washington: Uncovering the true motive, and the mystery of the alleged summer lair revealed.

The BBQs and beach trips are popping off, but the news is still heated, world peace remains elusive, and sometimes it feels like there's a madman conducting a symphony of chaos across the planet. What ever happened to those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer? We examine why the summer lull disappeared from our lives like a Puma in the night.

Summer Vacation or Wayfaring Stranger?

Remember when the summer lull was a sacred tradition? We didn't complain about a shortage of bizarre news stories, because the irrationality briefly kept real madness at bay. We took a break from politics, crises, and terrorism, appreciating our beautiful, relaxing, and jubilant delirium every summer. But that was yesterday.

With global hotspots brewing in virtually every corner of the Earth, slipping into a nice summer holiday is a pipedream – if you can dive into such a thing when Putin is carpet-bombing, and Trump's backstabbing friends are elbowing each other for a selfie. Hell, even Israel and Iran seem to be on the brink of escalating the ol' holy war a notch – with another self-proclaimed peacekeeper like Trump stuck in the middle. And that's not even mentioning the rage of God's own Animal Kingdom, sitting just north of Germany, gradually getting petter and petter.

Grand Arrival, Grand Departure

Now, it might seem strange, but the "great handsome man" in question here – honestly, people still referred to Trump this way? - took considerable pride in unveiling the largest flagpole in the history of Washington – for whatever reason. You know, something to brag about in his next large rally, maybe? He wouldn't quit until he'd personally inspected every piece of construction equipment, because, let's face it: if anyone knows how to put together some poles and flags, it's Mr. Reality TV Star himself.

Still, the sudden departure from the G7 Summit took everyone by surprise - except, perhaps, his former pals. Why leave? No reason, apparently. There were just petty squabbles and potential Middle East issues that didn't require his precious attention. After all, there's nothing that possibly warrants his concern more than a shiny new flagpole. The excuses, like the man himself, remain as confusing and unstable as ever.

Dancing Around the War Elephant

It was a precarious dance around a war elephant, indeed. But does this male dominance contest between Trump and Putin need to escalate? All in the name of entertainment? It's tough to find a genuine break from this tiresome fare, even when swimming in the refreshing 18-22 degree temperatures of some of Europe's finest lakes.

The experts have deemed this summer the last one for peace. We can only hope it's not the last one for beer gardens, sunburns, and overpriced ice cream. The good Lord hasn't taken leave from us, mind you – He's just pickling us in a jar of chaos, every so slightly tempered by the relaxing beats of "Tequila Returns." Enjoy the few scant seconds of R&R while you can, citizen.

  2. From political bickering at the G7 Summit to troubling developments in the Middle East, entertainment seems to take a backseat as world leaders like Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin engage in a dance around a war elephant, their actions often appearing more like a reality show than a genuine effort at diplomacy.
  3. Meanwhile, back home, people try to find solace in general news, crime, and justice stories, as the irrationality of war-and-conflicts occasionally provides a brief respite from the chaos that envelops politics and global news.
