Thomas Müller in the Final Lap: Club World Cup, MLS, and a Glimpse of LA
Trump's Visit to Los Angeles: Details Revealed
Facebook Twitter Whatsapp E-Mail Print Copy Link The FC Bayern takes a swing at the Club World Cup with a dash of Disney and minus Leroy Sané. Thomas Müller, a football legend, is heading towards the end of his tenure with the German champions. He's been mulling over his future moves.
Thomas Müller shared a grin and a snap with Mickey Mouse and Goofy post-training in torrid Orlando, then opened up about his unwritten future script. Clocking in at 35, Müller hinted in the USA that a call about his career might ring during his swan songs for FC Bayern Munich in the esteemed Club World Cup.
"I'm on cloud nine about it. Even if a shake-up happens regarding my professional journey during the tournament, I won't let it disrupt me," Müller stated. Will he retire after the Club World Cup? Or extend his career journey? Perhaps in the USA with an MLS outfit?
Müller remained tight-lipped upon landing in Florida. "I keep pondering over my future, particularly the immediate one. And that will unfold here at the Club World Cup, those queries are dominating. It's a process that's still ticking, there's no epic announcement yet," the seasoned pro shared. On Sunday (6 p.m. on Sat.1, DAZN and in the ntv.de live ticker), the Bayern will kick things off in the Group Stage of the 32-team tournament against Auckland City in Cincinnati.
"Life After Football? Pondering the Options"
And he will also use the extended downtime until a potential finale on July 13 to soak up the country and the lifestyle outside the pitch. "Of course, it's also an opportunity for me," Müller confirmed. "Especially if we cruise through, then we'll be in different regions in the USA." And he could "take a stroll and snuffle around a bit."
Los Angeles FC is just one of several MLS teams with their eyes on Müller, and it's natural that he would take notice of the images of L.A. protests against President Donald Trump's immigration policies. "Obviously, one does take notice, that's par for the course," he said.
But that's separate from his career plans, Müller added: "If one were to let political and fundamental changes engulf one's daily life and not be able to separate things, it would be a challenge. One ponders, but that doesn't only concern the issue at hand in Los Angeles. Rather, the global situation tends to challenge one, to say the least."
He also brought up the mass shooting in Graz on Tuesday, during Müller's transit to North America with the Bayern. "Paying heed is good, but pondering too. Yet there's no direct line to be drawn," he said about unsettling incidents worldwide and their influence on his life.
