Hangin' with Micky Ds, Muller Ponders US Sojourn
Trump's Presence in Los Angeles
Got a scoop on the FC Bayern squad prepping for the Club World Cup? The team's trainin' down in Orlando, Florida - Mickey Mouse and Goofy's backyard, y'all! Thomas Müller's on the roster, but his future's a hot topic - and it might just be decided during the Club World Cup.
Müller's game face was on as he snapped a selfie with the mouse crew post-training. But when it comes to his future, said face is anything but certain. "Ain't no sweat off my back," Müller said, duckin' questions about his post-Club World Cup plans. But he hinted that a decision could go down during the tournament.
The 35-year-old's contract's almost up, and there's whispers about him opting for retirement or lookin' into the Major League Soccer scene. Word on the street is he might link up with LAFC, but Müller kept his cards close to his chest when he landed in Florida.
"I'm always thinking 'bout what's next, especially in the short-term. But that's all 'till the Club World Cup's over," Müller said, tight-lipped about the rumor mill buzzin' around his potential moves.
The club's kickin' off the group stage against Auckland City in Cincinnati on Sunday (6 pm/Sat.1, DAZNand ntv.de live ticker). One thing's for sure; Müller's gonna use the tournament as a chance to explore the U.S. of A beyond football.
"It's a golden opportunity for me, man. Especially if we make it far, I'll be able to check out all sorts of cool places. I might even get a taste of the local lifestyle," he confessed.
LAFC's got their eye on Müller, but he ain't lettin' politics cloud his judgment. "Yeah, I heard 'bout the protests against Trump's deportation policies in LA. Can't ignore it," he admitted. But he made it clear that his career moves ain't political - just football.
"If I let politics dictate my actions, it'd be a mess. I take note, but I ain't gonna let it interfere with my game. The whole world's got its issues, man - gotta find a way to separate the personal from the political," he said.
Müller ain't forgettin' the tragic events in Graz, either. "Can't ignore the bad stuff, but it's important to keep things in perspective," he said, reflecting on the deadly mass shooting before jetting off to America.
