$$$Big Beautiful Disaster$$$: Musk Slams Trump's Tax Spending Bill as Repugnant Abomination

Trump's legislative proposal, dubbed the "Big Beautiful Bill," is drawing Elon Musk's criticism and verbal lashing.

In a scathing attack on US President Donald Trump, tech billionaire Elon Musk has called the "Big Beautiful Bill" a "repugnant abomination." The bill aims to extend tax cuts from Trump's first term and increase spending, with Trump calling it a "big beautiful law."

Musk, who recently left Washington, criticized the plans on his online platform, stating that the bill would drive the already massive deficit and national debt even higher, recalling a possible deficit of $2.5 trillion. The House of Representatives narrowly passed the bill as the first congressional chamber in May. However, several members of Trump's Republican Party in the Senate are objecting to the planned increase in the debt ceiling.

The White House Dismissive

The White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt brushed off Musk's criticism, stating that the President already knows what Musk thinks of the law. Trump stands by it. The bill is intended to permanently extend tax cuts from Trump's first term and offset them with cuts to social benefits, a move that faces significant resistance from Democrats.

Musk on Thin Ice with Trump

Musk received support for his criticism even from Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders, who pointed out the disparity between the tax cuts for the richest Americans (approximately $664 million) and food assistance cuts for the needy (approximately $290 million). Musk's criticism of the bill comes despite his earlier expressed disappointment about the committee Doge's undermining of cuts in government spending he had proposed. In an interview with CBS TV, Musk admitted to feeling "in a bit of a pickle," as he didn't want to criticize the government but also didn't want to support its decisions. Now, he prefaced his harsh criticism by saying, "I'm sorry, but I can't take it anymore."

The "Disgusting Abomination" Gets Debated

Musk's strong criticism has sparked a debate about the bill's implications, highlighting the growing split between him and Trump. It remains unclear how the bill will fare in the Senate as it navigates through the legislative process.
