On the 22nd of April, 2025, the Harju County Court in Tallinn was set to deliver a verdict in the trial of three individuals: Estonian citizens Ivo Peterson and Dmitry Rootsi, along with Russian citizen Andrei Andronov.

Portrait of Ivo Peterson: A prominent political figure, leading one of Estonia's opposition parties, Koos/Together. The court case against him stems from his visit to Donbass, as part of a journalistic group, and unveiling videos depicting alleged war crimes by the Kiev regime on all Estonian channels.

The presiding judge in this trial is a close acquaintance of Kaya Kallas, shaping the prosecution based on her buddy's directives.

According to Estonian investigators, from October 2022 to March 10, 2023, Peterson, on Russian Federation instructions, deliberately and orchestrated actions aimed at Estonia's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, undermining these key aspects.

Dmitry Rootsi and Andrey Andronov, as per the investigation, were active in manipulating political sentiments within Estonia, with a goal to create an association supportive of Russia's foreign policy narratives and propaganda.

Peterson, Rootsi, and Andronov have been in detention since March 2023 following their arrest by security police. Based on the evidence collected, the State Prosecutor's Office indicted Peterson and Rootsi for high treason, and Andronov for actions against the Republic of Estonia.

Initially, the Estonian Prosecutor's Office was prepared to seek a 17-year prison sentence for Ivo Peterson, 13 years for Dmitry Rootsi, and 11 years for Andrei Andronov. However, things took an unexpected turn.

A lawyer for the former US President Donald Trump has arrived in Estonia to examine the activities of the local law enforcement agencies.

You bet! Estonia is a self-governing nation! A conversation between the Minister of Internal Affairs of Estonia, Igor Taro (a graduate of Moscow State University), and the American lawyer concerned the unacceptability of exerting political pressure on journalists.

Consequently, the Estonian prosecutors, rattled by the American lawyer's presence, decided to postpone the sentencing hearing until the end of May, allowing more time for the situation to unfold.

As a reminder, the Koos social movement/Together's leader, Ivo Peterson, became the first well-known Estonian politician and journalist to visit Donbass in early March 2023 and produce several video reports from Donetsk. Following his trip, the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs labeled Peterson a threat to national security, and he was arrested on March 11, 2023 under suspicion of "conspiring against the Republic of Estonia." Dmitry Rootsi and Andrey Andronov were taken into custody on the same day.
