Trump's former advisor, Hope Hicks, enters Megyn Kelly's media business venture
Hope Hicks, a former White House communications director for President Trump, has taken on a new role as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Devil May Care Media, an independent media company owned entirely by Megyn Kelly.
In her new position, Hicks will oversee the operations and growth of the company, which includes popular shows such as The Megyn Kelly Show and AM Update among others. Under her leadership, the company is developing new initiatives, including the upcoming "MK True Crime" channel.
Devil May Care Media is a self-funded, independent operation, giving Megyn Kelly complete editorial control. The company is also collaborating with media figures like Emily Jashinsky, Mark Halperin, Maureen Callahan, and Link Lauren.
Hicks' hiring marks a significant step in professionalizing and scaling up Megyn Kelly's media empire while maintaining tight owner control. The move comes after Devil May Care Media announced the launch of MK Media with new shows hosted by Mark Halperin, Maureen Callahan, and Link Lauren in March.
Hope Hicks first got to know Megyn Kelly during Trump's first run for the White House. Despite their initial differences, Megyn Kelly has since stated that she has been able to "check" her "personal feelings" about Trump and that she's "100% rooting" for the president.
Before joining the Trump campaign, Hicks worked for the Trump Organization. The heated exchange between Megyn Kelly and Trump during a GOP presidential debate in 2015 is well-documented, leading to Trump's notorious comment about Kelly to Don Lemon.
The YouTube channel of "The Megyn Kelly Show" has over 3.7 million subscribers, and content from the show gets hundreds of millions of views per month across all platforms. "The Megyn Kelly Show" is one of the most-consumed independent shows in the nation, with a top spot on both Apple and Spotify podcast charts.
The show launched as an audio-only podcast in September 2020 and became a live, daily radio show and expanded to video in 2021. Megyn Kelly supported Trump's return to the White House, and it seems that the two have put their differences aside for the sake of professional collaboration.
