Earlier this year, Bove ordered federal prosecutors to drop bribery and fraud charges against Adams, causing a wave of resignations in the Manhattan US attorney's office and the Justice Department in Washington. More than 900 former Justice Department attorneys sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee expressing opposition to Bove's appointment, stating that promoting someone who disgraces the Justice Department to a high court is intolerable.
A group of over 75 retired state and federal judges wrote to the Senate Judiciary Committee, stating it is inappropriate for a president to nominate their own criminal defense attorney for a federal judgeship.
The controversy surrounding Bove's confirmation has not abated. His alleged blind loyalty to President Trump and his actions regarding January 6, 2021 rioters continue to be a point of debate. As the Third Circuit Court prepares to hear cases, the question of Bove's impartiality and integrity remains a pressing concern.
