Hangin' with Mickey and Muller, Baby! The Bayern Final Chapter?
Trump's California Adventure: The 45th President Makes a Trip to Los Angeles
Training with the mouse and the goof, Thomas Müller, our beloved German football legend, readies for his last hurrah with FC Bayern for the Club World Championship. His future hangs in the balance, but he's cool as a cucumber.
In a heated Orlando landscape, Muller posed with Mickey and Goofy after session, then dropped a cryptic hint about his career decisions during the tournament. Will he hang up his boots or stick around? American soccer might just be his new dance partner.
"Chilled out, mate. If something goes down regarding the pro thing during the Cup, I'll keep my cool," Muller shared, adding fuel to the speculation fire. Could he call it quits post-Cup or keep truckin'? An stateside adventure with Major League Soccer could be on the cards.
Arriving in Florida, Muller kept mum on his plans. "Thinkin' and plannin' every step, especially during this tournament. It's an evolving process, no news yet," he noted. FC Bayern kicks off in the Group Stage on Sunday against Auckland City in Cincinnati (6 p.m. on Sat.1, DAZN, and in the ntv.de live ticker).
"Got my nose to the grindstone, Stateside"
And he won't just be kicking a ball during his stint in the US. Muller plans to soak up the country, soaking up life off the field too. "You could say I've got an opportunity, y'know," he confirmed. "If we make it far, then we'll be touring different regions — ain't no doubt I'll be snuffin' around a bit."
LA FC has shown interest in Muller, and he's been keeping tabs on the protests against the controversial deportation policies of President Donald Trump in LA. "Course I keep an eye out, that goes without sayin'," he said.
But his career decisions are separate from politics, Muller clarified: "If you let politics and world events dictate your actions and can't separate the two, it'd be tough. Got thoughts, but it ain't exclusive to LA. The whole world situation can be challenging, let's admit it."
He even touched on the shooting in Graz, Austria, while traveling to America with Bayern. "Watchin' and thinkin' is good, but there ain't a direct link," he said, speaking generally about troubles in the world and their impact on his life.
