The Israeli coordinator for hostage affairs, Gal Hirsch, has set the record straight regarding the captives held in Gaza by Hamas. Contradicting US President Donald Trump's statement, Hirsch reported that 24 captives are still alive, not the 21 Trump claimed. In addition, 35 captives are reported dead, as per the Israeli Army's records.

During an event at the White House, Trump declared that three more captives have tragically lost their lives. In a meeting with former Israeli captives, he stated that there were 24 captives still being held by Islamic Palestinian organizations. However, he mentioned that only 21 were still alive, with "a lot of bodies" implying more deaths.

Israel's most recent report, released regarding the people abducted on October 7, 2023, states that 58 individuals are still captive in the Gaza Strip. The assumption was that 34 had perished, but now the figure is 35, according to the Israeli side.

Trump is set to visit Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates from May 13 to 16. In anticipation, he hinted at a "very, very big announcement" before his trip, but provided no additional details.

The large-scale attack by the terrorist organization Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the abduction of 251 hostages to Gaza. Since then, Israel has launched extensive military operations in the region. To date, more than 52,500 people are reported to have been killed, as per figures from the Hamas-controlled health ministry.
