Trump's Artificial Intelligence chatbot confronts Presidential issues such as tariffs, former President Obama, and allegations of election fraud.
In a bold move, the Trump-founded social network, Truth Social, introduced a new AI search engine last week called Truth Search AI. The AI tool, designed to provide factual information, is expected to shake up the online discourse by challenging political narratives and promoting objective and unbiased content.
The Truth Search AI is not directly controlled by Trump or Truth Social, but it uses a source selection feature to limit its reliance on certain websites. This feature is intended to ensure the AI tool's responses are reliable and free from top-down ideological bias, as defined by the elimination of references to topics like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), climate change, and certain social justice concepts.
When asked about who the most popular president in the world is, the Truth Search AI does not base its response on Trump's personal opinions. Instead, it aims to deliver factual information, not cater to personal preferences or political affiliations.
However, the Truth Search AI's political responses do mirror Trump's views by avoiding or rejecting progressive social ideologies. For instance, when asked about the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, the AI linked the violent event to Trump's "unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud."
The Truth Search AI's stance on political topics closely reflects the statements and ideological positions held by former President Donald Trump. It emphasizes a rejection of what Trump terms "woke" ideologies and promotes AI systems that align with his political views. This policy stance includes executive orders and an AI Action Plan from July 2025 that explicitly seek to prevent AI from incorporating DEI considerations or other ideological content that Trump opposes.
Jesse Dwyer, a spokesperson for Perplexity, the company that developed the Truth Search AI, stated that the company supports the decisions of developers and consumers, and their focus is simply on developing more precise AI. Perplexity aims to make powerful AI accessible to an audience with important questions.
The Truth Search AI is currently in a "public beta test," and it's uncertain whether Truth Social will keep it. The White House has not commented on the matter to The Washington Post.
It's worth noting that the Truth Search AI reportedly contradicts several key statements made by President Donald Trump, including that tariffs are a tax on Americans, that the 2020 election was not stolen, and that the Trump family's cryptocurrency investments could pose a potential conflict of interest.
When queried by the Berlin newspaper, the Truth Social AI mainly showed conservative media like Fox News, Newsmax, and The Washington Times. This suggests that the AI tool's source selection feature prioritizes certain news outlets over others.
As the Truth Search AI continues its public test, it remains to be seen how it will impact the online discourse and whether it will become a permanent feature on Truth Social. One thing is certain: the Truth Search AI is set to challenge political narratives and promote objective and unbiased content. Whether this aligns with the views of all users remains to be seen.
