Former U.S. Ambassador to Poland and Weiser Family Distinguished Fellow at the Atlantic Council, Daniel Fried, has voiced concerns about potential U.S. dealings with Russia that could compromise Ukraine's interests.

Fried has pointed out the risk of the U.S. making a deal that could involve surrendering Ukrainian land to Russia, an issue that raises broader concerns about the U.S. prioritizing deals with Russia over Ukraine's support. This concern was recently highlighted during diplomatic meetings, such as Trump's meeting with Putin in Alaska, where progress on key issues like a ceasefire was lacking, and Putin maintained his intransigent position on Ukraine.

Reuters reports that Fried has expressed this concern, and it comes at a critical moment for Ukraine. The potential scenario, if it were to occur, could see Trump focusing on bilateral issues with Russia, such as arms control or Arctic exploration, which could leave Kyiv without U.S. support.

Meanwhile, Andrey Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian president's office, has referred to Trump's February dispute with Zelensky as "suicidal." While Yermak did not specify the specific aspects of the dispute that he found problematic, the context of his statement suggests that he views the dispute as harmful to Ukrainian interests.

Yermak's comment adds to the ongoing debate about the impact of U.S.-Ukraine relations on the Ukrainian conflict. His statement was made during a meeting with students at Kyiv universities, underscoring its significance in the context of Ukrainian politics.
