Trump urges Federal Governor Cook to step down on Social Truth platform
Former President Donald Trump has called for the resignation of Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, citing allegations of mortgage fraud made by Bill Pulte, the head of the US mortgage market oversight agency.
Pulte made his allegations in a post on the X platform, stating that Cook owned an apartment in Atlanta as her primary residence after taking out a loan for her house in Michigan and declaring it as her primary residence. He also referred to two loans from June and July 2021 in his allegations.
Pulte recommended an investigation by the Justice Department into the suspected mortgage fraud. However, it's important to note that Trump's call for Cook's resignation is based on these allegations, and there has been no official investigation by the Justice Department into Cook's case.
Despite Trump's demands, Cook has publicly stated that she will not resign from her post. She affirmed that the president has no authority to force her resignation[1].
Meanwhile, Trump has appointed Stephen Miran as Fed Governor to fill the vacant position left by Adriana Kugler. Miran's appointment is not related to the allegations against Lisa Cook. It is worth noting that Miran is Trump's economic advisor and is set to serve on the Fed's board until January 31, 2026.
Trump has a history of publicly criticizing Fed Chairman Jerome Powell over interest rates. He has suggested the dismissal of Powell at times, but as of now, Powell remains in his position.
