Trump Claims He Averted India-Pakistan War

On a surprising turn of events, US President Donald Trump has boasted about averting a war between India and Pakistan, going as far as to call himself a peace-maker. In a ceremonious setting at the White House, Trump stated, "I stopped the war between Pakistan. I love Pakistan. Modi is a fantastic man... I stopped a war between two major nuclear nations."

Trump made this bold assertion following his phone call with Indian PM Narendra Modi. He added that now, the US can strike a deal with India for trade. In the same spirit, he highlighted the role played by Asim Munir, a high-ranking Pakistani official, in stopping the war.

However, it's important to note that official accounts from both India and Pakistan do not credit Trump with any direct intervention. Instead, the 2019 ceasefire and de-escalation were largely the result of direct military communications between the respective DGMOs (Directors General of Military Operations) of both countries. The truce, known as Operation Sindoor, began on May 10, 2019, and has remained in effect since.

Despite Trump's claims, it seems the peace mechanism was orchestrated through diplomatic channels and not through any third-party mediation by Trump or the US. It's fascinating to observe Trump's express admiration for both Modi and Pakistan's military leadership in light of these events.

Politics and general news have been flooded with discussions surrounding Trump's claim of averting a war between India and Pakistan. Although Trump credits himself for the peace, official accounts from both countries attribute the 2019 ceasefire and de-escalation to direct military communications between the DGMOs, rather than third-party mediation by Trump or the US.
