Trump to host Erdogan at the White House in the upcoming week
Biden to Host Erdogan at White House Next Week
US President Joe Biden has announced that he will host Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House next week. The meeting, scheduled for Thursday in Washington, D.C., will mark another instance of the two leaders meeting during Biden's political career.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Biden expressed his anticipation to welcome President Erdogan. He emphasized that he and the Turkish leader have always had a very good relationship.
The agenda for the meeting includes discussions on numerous trade and military agreements. One of the agreements under discussion is the purchase of Boeing aircraft. However, no new facts about potential aircraft purchases were mentioned in Biden's statement.
Continued discussions are also happening on F-35 fighter jets. A significant deal under discussion is the purchase of F-16 fighter jets, but no concrete decisions have been made public yet.
It's worth noting that Turkey, a NATO member, maintains good relations with both Russia and Ukraine. Whether the Russian war against Ukraine will be discussed at the meeting remains unclear, as Biden did not mention it in his post.
Biden previously hosted Erdogan at the White House during his first term. The meeting between the two leaders in Washington, D.C., will be another opportunity for them to discuss and potentially finalise these agreements.
In the past, Biden has emphasised cooperation with Erdogan, and this meeting is expected to further strengthen their relationship. The details of the agreements reached during the meeting will be eagerly awaited by both countries.
