Trump Surpasses a Previous Mark - A Development Likely to Displease Him

In a recent survey conducted by Economist/YouGov, President Donald Trump's approval ratings have taken a significant hit, reaching a record high of 55% disapproval in his second term. This marks a spike from the prior week's numbers, which were at 53%.

The survey, which asked 1,680 U.S. adults about their views on the Jeffrey Epstein case, the government's potential cover-up, and Trump's handling of the presidency, has raised concerns about the impact of the Epstein case on Trump's support among some of his base.

The survey results indicate that a significant portion of Trump's base believes the government is covering up evidence about Epstein. In fact, 59% of people who voted for Trump in the 2024 election hold this belief.

The decline in Trump's favorability since he took office in January is largely due to Democrats and independents. The approval rating among Democrats was at 12% when Trump's second term began, but it has since dropped to a mere 3%. Among independents, the approval rating has also dropped, from 41% in January to 29% in the latest survey.

The Jeffrey Epstein case has caused a kerfuffle among some of Trump's base, with the survey results suggesting that the case may have negatively impacted Trump's support among some of his base.

The survey was conducted in light of recent developments surrounding the Epstein case. The latest search results do not provide specific details on the approval and disapproval ratings for President Donald Trump among Democrats and independents in the Economist/YouGov poll. However, the general trend in Trump's approval ratings has been declining.

The survey results also show that some of Trump's base is turning against him due to the Epstein case. For precise figures on Democrats and independents, checking the latest poll release would be necessary.

The survey results also highlight a diverse disapproval of Trump's job performance, with significant disapproval on key issues like national security, immigration, jobs and the economy, and foreign policy. Disapproval is more pronounced in certain policy areas, such as inflation/prices, with a net approval rating of -26.

In the same survey, 41% of respondents approve of Trump, a drop from the 49% approval rating he started his second term with earlier this year. The survey, which was conducted over the weekend, also asked 1,680 U.S. adults how they felt about the way Trump is handling the presidency.

These findings underscore the ongoing challenges President Trump faces as he navigates his second term in office. The Epstein case, in particular, seems to have had a significant impact on Trump's approval ratings, particularly among his base.

  1. The Epstein case appears to have caused a divisive effect among President Trump's supporter base, according to a recent survey.
  2. The survey results indicate that a substantial number of people who voted for Trump in the 2024 election believe the government is concealing evidence about Epstein.
  3. The decline in Trump's approval ratings among Democrats and independents has been significant, with a drop from 12% to 3% among Democrats and 41% to 29% among independents since the beginning of his second term.
  4. Apart from the Epstein case, disapproval of Trump's job performance is notable in areas such as national security, immigration, jobs and the economy, foreign policy, and inflation/prices.
