Trump speaks to Canadian audience: addresses nationals about various topics of interest

Here's a fresh take on the situation:

Trump stirs the pot again with Canada annexation proposition

On the day Canada held a snap parliamentary election, former U.S. President Donald Trump once more raised eyebrows with his proposed plan for Canada to become the 51st U.S. state. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote,

"Choose a leader with the guts and the genius to slice your taxes in half, pump up your military muscle for zilch to the highest level globally, boost your automotive, steel, aluminum, lumber, energy, and various industries fourfold, sans tariffs and taxes, if Canada merges with the stellar USA. No more bogus borders left over from the stone age."

Trump maintained that joining forces with the U.S. would have no pitfalls.

"America can't keep pouring hundreds of billions of dollars yearly into Canada as it has in the past. It makes no cents unless Canada merges with the states," Trump stated emphatically.

Earlier in the year, Trump floated the idea of Canada joining the U.S. to dodge 25% tariffs. This was not the first time Trump proposed such a plan, having humorously broached the subject with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at a joint dinner in December. The '51st-state' idea was raised again during conversations with NBC News, with Trump suggesting Mexico and Canada might join the United States instead of accepting subsidies.

As the news circled regarding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepping down as leader of the Liberal Party, Trump revived the annexation proposal. In response, Trudeau quipped, "There's not the slightest chance that Canada will become entangled in the States."

With the U.S.-Canada border historically marked by trade tensions and economic disagreements, Trump's proposition offers a unique twist in relations between the two nations. The ongoing election in Canada, featuring a closely matched race between Liberal leader Mark Carney and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, may add fuel to the fire as Canadians decide their country's future.
