Trump sharply reprimands Australian journalist in tense confrontation, stating, "You're damaging your own nation."

In a heated exchange that took place before his state visit to the UK, US President Donald Trump found himself in a tense encounter with an Australian journalist from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Americas editor, John Lyons. The incident was captured in a video shared by an official White House social media account, which was titled "Trump smacks down a rude foreign Fake News loser."

The video shows Trump responding to Lyons' question about his wealth since taking office for the second time. Trump, seemingly irritated, held his index finger to his lips before telling the journalist to "Quiet." He then went on to claim that he has been building buildings for a life, and most of his deals were made before his presidency.

The exchange took a more personal turn when Trump learned that Lyons was from Australia. Trump expressed his disapproval, stating that he believed Lyons was hurting Australia. He further stated that he would tell the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, about Lyons' behaviour when they meet next week in the US, as Albanese is scheduled to attend the UN General Assembly in New York and meet Trump.

Despite Trump's attempts to silence Lyons, the journalist attempted to ask another question during the exchange. However, Trump responded by saying he didn't know about his wealth increase and believed Lyons had set a bad tone, suggesting he could set a nicer one. The caption on the shared video described Trump as "smacking down" a "rude foreign Fake News loser."

The exchange occurred on the White House lawn, adding to the drama of the moment. When asked whether it was appropriate for a sitting US president to conduct business from the White House, Trump defended his actions, stating that his kids are running the business.

The incident serves as a reminder of the often contentious relationship between the US President and the press, and the high stakes that come with such encounters. As Trump continues his tenure, such exchanges are likely to remain a topic of interest and debate among the public and media.
