The highly-anticipated meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to take place at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska on August 15, 2025. According to the Kremlin's agenda, the main topic of discussion will be the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.

The venue for the summit, the US military base in Anchorage, Alaska, was confirmed by Dmitri Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin. Putin is expected to personally welcome Trump upon his arrival at the airport in Alaska. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:30 local time (21:30 CEST).

This summit, referred to as the 2025 Russia–United States Summit or Alaska 2025, marks Putin's first visit to a Western country since Russia's 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The meeting aims to explore possibilities for ending the conflict, though it remains to be seen if an agreement will be reached.

The summit is significant as it is the first meeting held on U.S. military property between sitting presidents of Russia and the United States since 2007, and the first between Putin and Trump as sitting presidents since 2019. The Kremlin’s focus is largely on discussions around ceasefire prospects in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, although no immediate ceasefire is expected to result from the talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will not be present at the summit. Trump has expressed hope for a future meeting that would include Zelenskyy. The summit is high stakes against the backdrop of the international tension caused by the war and the ICC arrest warrant against Putin for alleged war crimes, though the U.S. is no longer an active ICC member.

After the meeting, the two leaders plan to summarize the results of the negotiations at a joint press conference. The airport in Alaska will serve as the venue for the meeting, and Trump's arrival will be met by Putin personally.
