Empty Tehran: Anticipated Trump's Decision Leads to Desolate Cityscape - Trump seeks complete termination - deserted city of Tehran

US President Donald Trump is pushing for a "true ending," not just a truce, for Iran's nuclear program. According to accounts of journalists who accompanied him on his swift return from the G7 summit in Canada, Trump declared, "I'm after an end, a true end, not a ceasefire, an end." Experts believe that Israel would need a special bunker-busting bomb, which only the US possesses, to obliterate the deeply buried Iranian nuclear facility at Fordo.

On the fifth day of the war, both sides remained undeterred in their relentless aggression. In Israel, 24 lives have been lost, and 600 have been wounded, according to the government. The number of casualties in Iran, under heavy censorship, likely exceeds expectations. Israel has again claimed the life of a high-ranking Iranian military official, bringing the total to around 20.

Air raids have turned districts throughout the Iranian capital, Tehran, into phantom townships. Many of the city's 15 million inhabitants have abandoned their homes, and markets, if open at all, are virtually barren. Internet access is severely restricted.

Another strike on Tehran

Israel's air force struck the north of Tehran again. Witnesses reported a heavy explosion in a heavily populated, affluent district with well-known shopping centers.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced impending massive attacks, targeting "significant objectives." He stated, "We will continue to inflict heavy losses on Iran." Katz pointed out "over ten nuclear targets in the Tehran region."

When asked about potential involvement of the US, Katz said, "The State of Israel is leading this fight with its own forces." Currently, the US is only assisting Israel in its defense efforts. They will appreciate and respect any decision and backing from the US.

Decreasing Iranian rockets on Israel

According to Israeli military sources, Iran has fired around 400 ballistic rockets and hundreds of drones since Friday, but the number has decreased recently. The Israeli military asserts the ability to destroy many rockets while they are still en route to their destinations. The Israeli air force now boasts a substantial operational autonomy in the Iranian skies.

US bolsters military presence in the Middle East

US media predicts that the decision of US President Trump will be one of the most substantial in recent US foreign policy history. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas warned that, should the US engage in the war between Israel and Iran, it would fuel the conflict in the region. "If the US becomes involved, it will definitely ignite the region into a broader confrontation, and that is not in anyone's best interest," she stated to journalists in Brussels.

According to matching media reports, the US military is reportedly sending a second aircraft carrier to the Middle East. Additionally, the US is relocating dozens of tanker aircraft to Europe over the weekend, ready to be dispatched to the Middle East if necessary. The protection of their own troops in the Middle East region is the top priority, it is said.

Israel asserts it is attacking to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Tehran contends its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. In an online post, Trump wrote that Tehran should have endorsed the offer Trump made regarding Iran's nuclear program, labeling it a "waste of lives." He added, "Iran must not possess a nuclear weapon, in capital letters."

Later, when asked by a reporter, Trump said Iran was "on the brink" of having a nuclear weapon, contradicting a previous assessment by U.S. intelligence agencies.

The leaders of the industrial powerhouses surprisingly agreed on a joint statement at the G7 summit in Canada, labeling Iran as "the chief instigator of regional unrest and terrorism" and emphasizing Israel's right to self-defense. They made it clear that Iran must never have a nuclear weapon.

According to Israeli statements, Fordo is the primary objective. The well-guarded facility near the city of Qom is considered the centerpiece of preventing Iran from building a nuclear weapon. "By the end of this entire operation, Fordo must be incapacitated," said Israel's ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, to Fox News.

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, hundreds of centrifuges at Fordo spin at supersonic speeds, producing nearly weapons-grade uranium with a purity level of up to 60 percent.

Insight: History Awaits - The Unfolding Conflict

As of mid-June 2025, the conflict between Israel and Iran reveals a state of high intensity and hostility, with Israel conducting an escalating air campaign against Iranian nuclear and regime targets, Iran responding with continued missile strikes on Israeli cities, and Iran's regional influence experiencing a notable decline. Negotiation prospects seem limited, and US involvement appears tucked away, yet influential, behind the scenes. This prelude to history may propel the Middle East into uncharted territory, with uncertain outcomes and lasting impacts on global dynamics.

  • The European Union, despite being a key player in general news and politics, has yet to publicly comment on or intervene directly in the war-and-conflicts between Israel and Iran, focused instead on maintaining a comprehensive and comprehensive policy on the environment.
  • Amidst the ongoing war between Israel and Iran, US President Donald Trump's stance on Iran's nuclear program remains firm, with a continued push for a "true end" to the program, even as the US bolsters its military presence in the Middle East, signaling potential involvement in the unfolding conflict.
