Trump Proposes 'Peace Council' to Lead Gaza Transition, Excludes Hamas

US President Donald Trump has proposed a 'Peace Council' to lead a transitional government in the Gaza Strip. The council, chaired by Trump, aims to oversee governance and reconstruction until the Palestinian Authority can manage the region securely. Hamas, however, will not be part of the administration, and its members can choose amnesty or leave. The plan also includes aid supplies, restored utilities, and a voluntary departure and return policy. It further proposes hostage and prisoner exchanges, and an internationally funded economic development plan to promote peace.

The Peace Council, set to include qualified Palestinians, international experts, and prominent political figures like former British PM Tony Blair, will administer the Gaza Strip through a Palestinian technocratic committee. Israel has accepted the plan, which includes an immediate end to fighting, Israeli military withdrawal, and cessation of combat operations. The plan also envisions a significant influx of aid, with supplies delivered and water and electricity restored. Notably, no one will be forced to leave the Gaza Strip, and departure and return will be voluntary. Additionally, hostages and prisoners will be exchanged, with Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners and receiving returned hostages.

Trump's plan for the Gaza Strip includes a transitional government led by a Peace Council, with no role for Hamas. It focuses on immediate aid, restored utilities, and voluntary departure and return policies. The plan also proposes hostage and prisoner exchanges and an internationally funded economic development plan. Israel has accepted the proposal, which aims to end the conflict and promote peace.
