Breaking: Trump Declares May 8 as a National Holiday - Here's the Scoop!

Get ready, folks! May 8 is now a national holiday!

In a bold move, good ol' Donald Trump has signed a proclamation making May 8 a national holiday to honor the Allied Powers' victory in World War II. This new holiday aims to commemorate the "Allied Powers' triumph" in 1945, symbolizing the end of the grueling war.

Why celebrate May 8 as a National Holiday?

As Trump proclaimed, "When we commemorate Victory Day for World War II, we pay tribute to every patriot from the Greatest Generation who left their homes and families to fight for our freedom. We honor their memories, and above all, we reaffirm our commitment to keeping America and the world a safe, secure, prosperous, and free place."

Touching the newswires: Trump's Truth Social post

In his usual blunt style, Trump announced his decision on Monday via a Truth Social post, stating, "We won two World Wars, but we never took credit for it." Trump emphasized the United States' integral role in the wars, hinting at the significance of November 11 and May 8, dedicating the former to World War I and the latter to World War II victories, respectively.

What stays open on May 8? Banks, stock market, postal services, and more

While May 8 is now a national holiday, government offices, banks, and businesses will, surprisingly, continue to operate. The stock market, postal services, and retail and grocery stores will also remain open as usual.

In his announcement, Trump assured, "We won't shut down the country for these two essential holidays because we already have too many holidays in America - there aren't enough days left in the year. We were workers then, and we're workers now!"
