Trump Jets Back from G7 Early Amid Middle East Tensions

Trump prematurely departs from G7 gathering

In a surprise move, US President Donald Trump is jetting back from the G7 summit in Canada ahead of schedule due to a rapidly escalating situation in the Middle East. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed the reason for Trump's departure, which was initially scheduled to last through Tuesday evening.

Following a leaders' dinner on Monday, Trump will depart from the summit in the Canadian Rockies, just when everyone thought he was settling in for the long haul. Originally, he planned to stay until Tuesday evening, but events unfolding in the Middle East necessitated his immediate return to the White House.

Trump bid farewell to the other G7 attendees, assuring them of a "really good relationship" and expressing gratitude for their hospitality, even as he exuded a sense of urgency to handle the brewing crisis. Other leaders present at the summit understood and showed sympathy for his sudden departure. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney thanked Trump for his visit and acknowledged that the President had to return home as soon as possible.

Tehran on Edge as Trump Issues Evacuation Call

Prior to announcing his departure, Trump took to his Truth Social platform, urging the residents of Tehran to flee without providing an explanation. With ten million inhabitants, Tehran is one of Iran's largest cities, making the call for evacuation particularly alarming. The ongoing military conflict between Israel and Iran has been escalating since last Friday, with Iran responding to Israeli attacks with drones and rockets.

However, the Pentagon has assured that it has yet to intervene militarily in the conflict and has no intention of doing so at this time. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered the deployment of additional resources to the US Central Command, responsible for the Middle East, to strengthen the US defense position in the region.

Meeting with Zelensky Canceled due to Urgent Matter

Originally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was scheduled to meet with Trump at the G7 summit. However, with the President hastily returning to the White House, the meeting between the two leaders will not take place. In previous reports, Zelensky intended to seek further support from the US to bolster Ukraine's defense against Russia and had planned to propose the purchase of US weapons.

Despite Trump's early exit, it is uncertain if this will have any direct impact on his scheduled meeting with Zelensky in the future. The primary focus remains on addressing the growing tensions in the Middle East.
