Get ready, TikTok fans! The clock is ticking, but not as fast as you might think. On the first day of his term, a U.S. law kicked in, mandating ByteDance to sell off TikTok. But here's a twist: Donald Trump decided to extend the deadline for the sale by 90 more days.

Why, you ask? Simple. Trump's spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, explains it all: "We're aiming to give U.S. users more time to enjoy TikTok without any security concerns." With this extension, the U.S. government can tidy up the details before sealed off a deal.

This isn't the first time Trump's given TikTok a reprieve. He initially postponed a ban on the platform from U.S. app stores by 75 days back in January, and later pushed that date back another 75 days in April. Now, we're looking at a new deadline: September 17, 2025.

During Trump's first term, which wrapped up in early 2021, he advocated for a trade-off or complete ban on TikTok. But it seems he's started to see the potential of this popular video app among the youth. In his 2024 presidential campaign, he's focusing on online services with the aim of winning over young voters.

Trump has even given a thumbs-up to TikTok, telling NBC News last month, "TikTok has a cozy corner in my heart."

Remember, these are just Trump's moves so far. The saga isn't over yet. The U.S. government is keeping a close eye on this situation to make sure TikTok cuts ties with its China-based parent company, ByteDance, addressing any lingering national security concerns raised by Congress.
