Trump participates in the "Coalition of the Willing" for central Ukraine, excluding the current U.S. President
The virtual Ukraine meeting, scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, will consist of three sessions, according to a statement made by Government spokesman Steffen Meyer in Berlin.
The first session will be a video conference with various European heads of state and government, including the President of the EU Commission, the President of the EU Council, and the NATO Secretary General.
The main session, the second one, is expected to be the most significant, with European heads of state, President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and U.S. President Donald Trump in attendance. This session will focus on diplomatic efforts, peace negotiations, and future security commitments for Ukraine.
Contrary to initial reports, the virtual Ukraine meeting will not include a session called "Coalition of the Willing." However, the third session will feature a format similar to the "Coalition of the Willing," with the focus on discussing support for Ukraine's sovereignty, peace negotiations, and security guarantees.
It's important to note that U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to participate only in the main session on Wednesday afternoon, not in the "Coalition of the Willing" round. The third session, in the "Coalition of the Willing" format, will not include the U.S. President.
The virtual Ukraine meeting is a meeting involving Ukraine and various international leaders, aiming to provide diplomatic support and security guarantees to Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. The "Coalition of the Willing" plays a vital role in this context, combining diplomacy, sanctions pressure on Russia, and international security guarantees for Ukraine without permitting forced changes to international borders or Russia having veto power over Ukraine’s integration with institutions like the EU or NATO.
The virtual Ukraine meeting underscores a multilateral approach to support Ukraine's defense and peace process following President Trump's direct engagement with Russian President Putin. This meeting is a testament to the international community's commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
