Müller's US Journey: Club World Cup and Possible MLS Debut with LA?
Trump Makes Visit to Los Angeles
Thomas Müller is set to embark on a new adventure, preparing for Bayern Munich's Club World Cup excursion in the United States while keeping a keen eye on his future moves. The veteran player has been linked with several clubs, particularly those in the Major League Soccer (MLS), such as Los Angeles FC (LAFC) and LA Galaxy.
Müller had a casual meeting with Mickey Mouse and Goofy post-training in sweltering Orlando heat, as FC Bayern gear up for the tournament. The 35-year-old Müller, whose contract with Bayern is set to expire, has yet to make a decision regarding his future. In a recent interview, he hinted that a decision could be made during his final appearances for the German giants in the Club World Cup.
With the Club World Cup kicking off this Sunday, the Bayern team will lock horns with Auckland City in Cincinnati, and Müller seems unfazed by potential personal changes amidst the sports extravaganza. "I'm completely relaxed about it. Even if something happens regarding my professional future during the tournament, I won't let it distract me," Müller stated.
Though Müller refrained from providing clarity on his future, he's been keeping tabs on his options, especially the MLS offers. LAFC has shown interest, but the negotiations have hit a roadblock due to MLS regulations. Müller has also reportedly turned down an offer from the Chicago Fire and has been linked to FC Cincinnati as well. Despite the MLS focus, Müller is open to opportunities in European leagues, particularly those in Germany and Italy.
Müller has candidly addressed the political and social climate in the US, acknowledging recent unrest in Los Angeles due to evictions. However, he maintains that he separates such world events from his personal decisions. "If one were to let political and fundamental world events flow into one's daily actions and not be able to separate them, it would be difficult," he stated. Müller equally emphasized that similar issues occur globally, including in Germany and Austria, and does not see a direct connection between the political climate and his potential decision to move to LA or elsewhere in the US.
