As of late July 2025, there is no public indication of any current relationship between Donald Trump and Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted sex trafficker serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking network.

The relationship between Trump and Maxwell, Epstein's close associate, deteriorated around the mid-2000s due to a dispute over a lucrative real estate deal. Trump has spoken about Epstein and how their relationship ended, mentioning Epstein "stole" employees from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club, including Virginia Giuffre, who was recruited by Maxwell and later accused Epstein and Maxwell of trafficking. Giuffre died by suicide earlier this year.

Regarding a potential pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell by Trump, no credible source or report has indicated that Trump has taken any steps toward pardoning her or intends to do so. Maxwell remains convicted and incarcerated with no known developments about a pardon from Trump or any current administration [1].

Throughout the years, Trump has made various statements about Epstein. In 2002, Trump described Epstein as "a terrific guy." However, Trump later distanced himself from Epstein, claiming he rejected invitations from him and emphasizing that he was never on Epstein's island. Trump repeatedly accuses Bill Clinton of visiting Epstein's island, but provides no evidence for his accusations.

Trump has also made claims about Larry Summers, mentioning him as having alleged connections to Epstein's island. Trump praised Epstein, saying, "He likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are younger." Trump finds the Epstein documents harmless and continues to distance himself from Jeffrey Epstein.

Politically, it would be highly risky - even for Trump's own camp - to pardon Maxwell. Media outlets speculate whether Trump would actually take the step to pardon Maxwell, but Trump does not rule out a pardon but says no one has asked him yet.

[1] As of the time of writing, no official statement has been made by the Trump administration or Trump himself regarding a potential pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell.

  1. The political implications of a potential pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, given Trump's current stance, could pose a significant risk, sparking discussions in the realm of policy-and-legislation and general-news.
  2. Despite media speculation, there is no credible evidence suggesting that Donald Trump has taken steps towards pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, in the field of crime-and-justice.
