In an exclusive phone interview with NBC's Kristen Welker, President Trump expressed his disinterest in repairing his relationship with Elon Musk, emphasizing that he could face "serious consequences" if he tries to support Democrats in the upcoming elections.
The president stated unequivocally that he has no plans to speak with Musk again, claiming he's too preoccupied with winning landslide elections and saving the country.
In light of rumors that Musk might back Democrats in the 2026 midterms, Trump issued a stern warning.
However, he remained discreet about what these consequences might entail. Since Musk's businesses hold numerous lucrative federal contracts, Trump has discouraged others from collaborating with the mega-billionaire, hinting at potential retribution for crossing him.
The recent friction between the president and the world's richest man erupted this week following Musk's public condemnation of Trump's proposed spending bill in Congress. Musk dubbed the bill as a "disgusting abomination," arguing it would exacerbate the federal deficit.
