In a recent interview with Fox News Radio on August 14, 2025, President Donald Trump expressed his interest in a second meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, following a historic summit in Alaska. The objective of this potential trilateral meeting is to negotiate a full peace treaty to end the Russia-Ukraine war, rather than just a ceasefire.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has emphasized that both sides—the Russians and Ukrainians—must agree to give and receive something for a lasting peace. Trump has indicated he may offer Putin another two-week deadline to agree to these peace talks with Zelensky, suggesting that the second summit among the three leaders could take place soon, assuming mutual consent.

However, no official information about the location of such a meeting has been disclosed in the current sources. The reports focus mainly on the diplomatic efforts and timing rather than the logistics or site details.

Trump has stated that he is more interested in an immediate peace deal and getting peace fast. He plans to hold a press conference following the summit, regardless of its outcome. If the summit goes badly, Trump will hold a press conference and state that the war will continue.

Trump has also clarified that he does not want to discuss the second meeting with Zelensky or hint that it might happen, before it has officially been decided. Trump stated that he would call Zelensky to discuss the second meeting, if the initial meeting goes well.

The White House is considering three options for the location of the second summit, with Alaska being the simplest. Trump has not yet decided if his press conference with Putin will be joint.

Earlier, White House press secretary Caroline Licit stated that President Trump intends to end the war in Ukraine through diplomacy and negotiations. If the initial meeting does not go well, Trump stated that he would not call anyone and would go home.
