Trump Files Multi-Billion Lawsuit Against the New York Times

In a move that has become familiar in recent years, former U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a lawsuit against The New York Times. The lawsuit, worth $15 billion, alleges that the newspaper made the "largest illegal campaign contribution in history" by openly supporting his democratic rival, Kamala Harris, in the 2024 election.

The lawsuit, which will be filed in the state of Florida, is in response to what Trump perceives as The New York Times becoming a "mouthpiece for the radical left Democratic Party." Trump claims that the newspaper has spread lies about his family, his business, the MAGA movement, and the entire country for "decades." He has made the statement that he is proud to "hold this once-respected 'rag' accountable."

This is not the first time Trump has sued a media company. Last October, he filed a lawsuit against television network CBS. In July of this year, the CBS parent company Paramount reached a settlement with Trump for $16 million to end the legal dispute. The settlement money, like the proposed settlement with The New York Times, is intended for Trump's future presidential library.

The lawsuit against The New York Times was announced on Trump's platform, Truth Social, on Tuesday. It stems from an interview with Kamala Harris, where her answers were allegedly edited to put her in a more favorable light. Trump claims that this constitutes libel and slander.

It's important to note that each former president in the United States receives their own library to inform about their term. The settlement money does not go to Trump personally, but to his future presidential library.

Despite extensive search results, there is no information indicating that President Donald Trump contracted a specific organization to settle a $16 million payment dispute from 2021. The lawsuit against The New York Times is the latest in a series of legal actions taken by Trump in response to perceived media bias and defamation.
