Musk Takes a Dig at Trump in Heated Feud
- Let's Talk Politics
Trump continues to argue against Musk in ongoing conflict - Trump fiercely opposes Musk in their ongoing feud
Elon Musk, the tech mogul and owner of SpaceX, Tesla, and X, has been throwing jabs at former U.S. President Donald Trump. In a consequences-free world, it's like a heavyweight boxing match, with each blow landing harder than the last.
Musk kicked off the feud by asking his followers a provocative question on the social media platform X: "Is it time to found a new political party in America that truly represents the 80 percent in the middle?" Many viewers saw this as a direct challenge to Trump.
The ex-president didn't hesitate to fight back. In an interview with ABC, Trump fired back, saying, "My old advisor Musk has lost his mind." And in another interview with CNN, Trump was less than flattering when he said, "I'm not even thinking about Elon... The poor guy has a problem."
Musk walked the MAGA (Make America Great Again) plank about a year ago, supporting Trump's right-wing populist campaign with an estimated $280 million (around $245 million). In exchange, Trump made him a special advisor, tasking Musk with significant cuts in the government. Musk tenderly resigned from the advisory role at the end of May. Since then, he's been criticizing Trump's tax plans, stating they're driving "America into bankruptcy" and inflating the national debt.
The spat between the two came to a head during the recent visit of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) to Washington. Trump threatened to withdraw billions in government contracts from Musk's companies. Musk responded by accusing Trump of ingratitude and asserting that without him, Trump would've lost the election.
To top it all off, Musk dropped what he called a "really big bomb" in his social media posts. Musk suggested that Trump was implicated in the "Epstein files." Musk was referring to the sex abuse scandal surrounding the late U.S. billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his prison cell in 2019. While Trump was mentioned in the documents, no wrongdoing was attributed to him.
This feud has had repercussions on other fronts as well. Reports indicate that Trump may be selling his Tesla electric car, worth around $80,000 (around $70,000), after a Tesla customer boycott following mass layoffs in government agencies initiated by Musk[1][2]. Additionally, the "Washington Post" reported that Trump's government is now reversing some of these measures[1].
As this feud continues to heat up, stay tuned for more updates from the world of tech and politics!
