Elon Musk threatens Donald Trump with Epstein files: A soap opera ready for its next twist
Trump faces threats from Musk over the Epstein files
In a fresh round of their ongoing feud, Elon Musk took a dig at President Donald Trump, accusing him of appearing in the Epstein Files. The value-laden billionaire posted on his network X, "Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That's the real reason why they weren't published." Musk followed it up with a cryptic, "Save this message. The truth will come out."
Just a few minutes later, Musk added another post that read, "From a 'great guy' to 'I was not a fan.'" Musk's comments were accompanied by a smiley with raised eyebrows and a quote from New York Magazine dating back to 2002. The quote featured a Trump statement extolling Epstein as "a lot of fun," adding that "people say [Epstein] likes beautiful women as much as I do."
The Epstein Files are a collection of confidential documents related to the investigations and trials against the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a New York prison in 2019. Several prominent figures, including Trump, have been implicated in the matter due to their connection with Epstein.
Trump's name appearing in the Epstein files is not a new revelation, as a U.S. court had already released almost 1,000 pages of documents containing the names of persons connected to Epstein in January 20224. Trump, former President Bill Clinton, British Prince Andrew, pop star Michael Jackson, and astrophysicist Stephen Hawking were among the persons whose names surfaced in these documents.
However, merely having ones name mentioned in these documents doesn't signify involvement in Epstein's criminal activities. For instance, one of the documents from 2019, a statement from a witness, mentioned that Trump's plane once couldn't land in New York due to a storm.
The saga unfolds: Numbers levelled and jabs thrown
Musk's claim about Trump's involvement with Epstein seems to suggest something more sinister. To support this, Musk also shared a video showing Trump and Epstein at a 1992 party surrounded by young women. Musk's comment consisted only of a smiley face signed with raised eyebrows.
While the veracity of Musk's claim cannot be ascertained at this juncture, there is no denying that the Trump-Musk feud is escalating. Rumors swirl about a possible new political party forming, with Musk potentially aligning with Trump’s adversaries.
Trump himself has been embroiled in legal and public scrutiny surrounding several accusations of sexual misconduct, including a civil trial in 2022, where he was found guilty of sexual harassment. Moreover, a former girlfriend of Epstein accused Trump of groping her in 1993.
Democrats in the House of Representatives have recently started investigating the matter, requesting clarification and the release of the complete Epstein files, hinting at Trump's potential involvement. This move could potentially whip up conspiracy theories already popular among Trump's detractors, although the extent of Trump's alleged involvement remains to be seen.
