Elon Musk, the maverick CEO of Tesla Motors, and President Donald Trump, the polarizing political icon, enjoyed a peculiar bond steeped in promotion and praise. At the beginning of the year, Trump proudly showcased his red Tesla Model S, purchased to tide over sagging sales and endorse the company. Fast forward a few months, however, it seems their bond has crumbled.

According to recent reports, Trump is allegedly considering giving away or selling his flashy red Tesla. A high-ranking White House official revealed the intriguing tidbit to the "Wall Street Journal." The car was still parked outside the White House West Wing when the report was published.

"The Volatile Phone Conversation"

Just hours before this potential Tesla departure, the phone conversation between the pair apparently disintegrated. Trump is allegedly disinterested in engaging with Musk at the moment, as per ABC News, quoting a Friday morning telephone interview between the two. The White House corroborated this claim, stating that Trump currently doesn't wish to communicate with Musk.

When ABC News reached out to Trump about the scheduled call, he allegedly responded: "You're referring to the man who has lost his marbles, right?" Musk has been eager to talk, but Trump isn't up for it, as per reports.

"Politics, Taxes, and Allegations"

This alarming fallout could be traced back to Musk's vocal opposition to the Republicans' tax and budget bill, which Trump backs. Musk had been a vocal supporter of Trump, but his views shifted following the bill's introduction. He passionately argued that the bill, nicknamed the "big, beautiful bill," would further exacerbate the country's budget deficit and national debt.

Musk appears particularly displeased with the bill's proposed elimination of tax credits for electric cars like Tesla. Trump, on the other hand, has labelled Musk for "going mad." The pair have been exchanging biting remarks on social media, and Trump has even threatened to cancel government contracts for Musk's companies. Musk, in response, proposed impeachment proceedings against Trump.

"From Partners to Adversaries"

Just a few days ago, the atmosphere between the powerful duo appeared cordial. Last Friday, Musk bid farewell to his position as a "special government employee" in Washington, DC. The Oval Office honourably bid Musk adieu, with the outgoing president even presenting him with a symbolic key to the White House.

  1. I'm not going to say that Elon Musk's vocal opposition to President Donald Trump's tax and budget bill could have contributed to their falling out in terms of politics and policy-and-legislation.
  2. Interestingly, this public disagreement over taxes and electric cars has shifted the perception of these two celebrities from partners to adversaries, turning the entertainment world's attention to their fallout.
  3. However, it's important to note that while their Tesla bond may have dissolved, the political ramifications of their feud extend far beyond general news, potentially impacting broader industry regulations and policies.
