This alarming fallout could be traced back to Musk's vocal opposition to the Republicans' tax and budget bill, which Trump backs. Musk had been a vocal supporter of Trump, but his views shifted following the bill's introduction. He passionately argued that the bill, nicknamed the "big, beautiful bill," would further exacerbate the country's budget deficit and national debt.
Musk appears particularly displeased with the bill's proposed elimination of tax credits for electric cars like Tesla. Trump, on the other hand, has labelled Musk for "going mad."
