Trump embarks on a journey to the UK
Former President Donald Trump Set for State Visit in the UK
Former President Donald Trump is set to return to the UK for a state visit, marking his second such visit since leaving office. The visit, scheduled to take place at Windsor Castle just outside London, will see Trump spend a few days in the country.
Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will be hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla during their stay. The state dinner for the President will take place on Wednesday night, with a welcome ceremony that includes a carriage procession and a flyover by military fighter jets.
The President's visit includes a series of ceremonial events, as well as a meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday. The war in Ukraine, the trade deal between the US and UK, and the issue of purchasing Russian oil are all expected to be on the agenda for their discussions.
Trump has expressed his belief that countries should stop purchasing Russian oil immediately, and he plans to apply pressure on EU and NATO countries to follow suit. The President feels it's not fair for them to continue purchasing power from Russia, given the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The President has a long-standing relationship with Prince Charles and Camilla, a relationship that predates King Charles' reign as king. Trump has previously referred to them as friends, and he is excited for his stay at Windsor Castle.
The visit comes as Trump was asked about Russia, Ukraine, and Europe before departing for the UK. It is unclear at this time whether the President will make any further public appearances or political speeches during his stay.
