Trump directs Gabbard in revoking security clearances for 37 officials, accused of politicizing intelligence

Tulsi Gabbard, the current Director of National Intelligence (DNI), has made a bold move by revoking the security clearances of 37 current and former intelligence officials, including former DNI James Clapper. This decision, part of Gabbard's "ODNI 2.0" initiative, aims to reform a perceived politicized and bloated intelligence community.

In a series of posts, Gabbard has accused these officials of politicizing and manipulating intelligence, abusing power, and engaging in unauthorized leaks. She believes that 'deep state actors' did not want Trump-Russia information to 'see the light of day'.

The revoked security clearances belong to officials who worked at the CIA, NSA, State Department, and National Security Council. Notable names on the list include Brett M. Holmgren, Richard H. Ledgett, Stephanie O'Sullivan, and Luke R. Hartig.

Gabbard's stance aligns with her initiative to dramatically reduce ODNI's size by over 40%, cutting staff and eliminating offices deemed redundant or partisan. This move is expected to save taxpayers over $700 million annually.

Regarding the alleged manipulation of the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA), Gabbard has publicly supported whistleblowers who claim this assessment—which concluded Russia interfered in the 2016 U.S. elections—was a "manufactured intelligence assessment" containing false and discredited information. She released documents supporting these whistleblower allegations and framed this manipulation as a serious breach that led to wrongful investigations and legal actions against President Trump and others.

Gabbard's approach emphasizes protecting whistleblowers, enhancing transparency, and restoring trust and accountability in the intelligence apparatus. However, her reforms have drawn mixed responses from bipartisan officials, reflecting the contentious nature of these changes.

It is important to note that the decision to revoke security clearances was made at President Donald Trump's direction. The officials' access to classified systems, facilities, materials, and information would be terminated immediately. Yael Eisenstat, a former CIA officer and White House advisor, is also on the list due to her involvement in the Facebook election integrity operation.
