Trump departs G7 summit prematurely

In a surprise turn of events, US President Donald Trump is jetting off from the ongoing G7 summit in Canada, a day earlier than planned. The reason? Events unfolding in the Middle East.

Trump's spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed the unexpected exit, citing Middle Eastern affairs as the primary cause. The President will depart from the Canadian Rockies on Monday evening, originally slated to stay until Tuesday evening.

At a group gathering, Trump explained his sudden departure, stressing the urgency of returning to Washington: "I would have loved to stay, but I have to get back as soon as I can." Despite this hasty exit, Trump maintained a positive outlook towards his fellow world leaders, relaying a sense of accomplishment in their collective efforts so far.

The recent departure announcement causes a minor hiccup in the summit's schedule, cancelling the planned meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who would have arrived as a guest. The cancellation brings questions about further support for Ukraine's defensive war against Russia, including potential arms purchases from the US.

Prior to announcing his departure, Trump issued a warning to Tehran's populace, urging them to evacuate the city without providing any explanations. This urgency surfaces concerns about US military intervention in the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, posing the risk of intensifying the regional crisis even further.

Simultaneously, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth declared an increase in US military presence in the Middle East to bolster the country's defensive position. The growing turmoil in the Middle East seemingly demands America's attention, prompting Trump to interrupt his G7 engagement.
