Trump declares deadly attack on purported drug-smuggling ship in global sea expanses
In a bold move, President Donald Trump announced another lethal military operation against an alleged drug-trafficking vessel. The strike, ordered by the Secretary of War, took place in international waters, within the US Southern Command's area of responsibility, which includes Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
The vessel, identified as a drug-smuggling boat, was affiliated with a designated terrorist organization, the Tren de Aragua cartel, according to the president's message on Truth Social. The operation, which occurred in early to mid-September 2025, resulted in the deaths of three male "narcoterrorists" onboard.
The president made the announcement in a social media post on Truth Social, where he also included a video of the strike. In his message, he warned against selling fentanyl, narcotics, and illegal drugs in America, and against committing violence and terrorism against Americans.
The US Southern Command confirmed that the operation did not harm any US forces. The struck vessel was trafficking illicit narcotics, making it a significant blow to the drug trafficking operations of the Tren de Aragua cartel.
This latest action by President Trump is part of his ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and terrorism, and to protect American citizens from the dangers posed by these criminal organisations. The president's commitment to keeping America safe is evident in his firm stance against drug trafficking and terrorism, both at home and abroad.
