Trump considers granting clemency to Diddy following conviction; public backlash ensues over surprising decision

In a potential turn of events, former President Donald Trump is reportedly contemplating a presidential pardon for Sean "Diddy" Combs, following his guilty verdict on prostitution charges. The decision on the pardon is due on October 3, according to reports.

Combs, a renowned music mogul, has been in jail since September 2024, facing controversial charges, including plotting and sex trafficking. However, he was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

The defense team has not made any official comments about the potential pardon, while Combs' attorney, Nicole Westmoreland, confirmed in an August 2025 interview that the legal team has reached out to the Trump administration requesting a pardon.

Lawyer John Kouvos, who has been involved in the case, met with Trump team pardon officials and stated that Combs' case is a model for Trump's approach to granting pardons to those he believes have been subjected to legal injustice or excessive criminal proceedings.

Trump's pardon policy includes reviewing cases of "overcriminalization" and "criminal overreach." This policy, if applied to Combs' case, could potentially change the outcome before sentencing.

It is important to note that the pardon is not a definite or likely outcome, as Trump himself has indicated a "deteriorated personal relationship" between them, making the decision difficult for him. The White House declined to comment on whether any clemency request exists.

Zaid Qaissieh, an entertainment writer for Al Bawaba, known for his storytelling skills and eye for detail, reports that plans have been made to review Combs' court case. However, no formal pardon has been granted or confirmed as of yet.
