Trump-branded 340m skyscraper proposed for Australia's Gold Coast ahead of Olympics
A new 340-metre skyscraper bearing the Trump name is set to rise on Australia's Gold Coast. Property developer Altus has partnered with the Trump Organisation to build the six-star tower in Surfers Paradise. The project, still awaiting council approval, aims to become a landmark before the upcoming Olympics.
The proposed tower will stand 91 storeys high, making it one of the tallest buildings in the region. One third of the space will operate as a luxury six-star hotel, while another third will house 270 high-end apartments. Altus chief executive David Young described the development as a defining feature for Surfers Paradise.
The design follows the Trump Organisation's global manual, similar to projects under construction in Jeddah and Saudi Arabia. The Trump brand has expanded through licensing deals, with other high-rise ventures planned in Dubai and the Maldives. Financing for the Gold Coast tower includes investors from Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE, and the US.
Acting Gold Coast mayor Mark Hammell welcomed the investment, calling it a boost for local jobs and confidence. However, the Gold Coast City Council has yet to receive a formal development application for the project.
If approved, the tower could be completed before the Olympics, potentially drawing tourists to the area. The project joins a series of international Trump-branded developments, reinforcing the company's presence in luxury real estate markets. Construction timelines and final approvals remain pending.
