In an unexpected move, President Donald Trump appointed his former personal lawyer, Alina Habba, as the interim US Attorney for the district of New Jersey, effective immediately, on March 27, 2025.

Habba, who currently serves as Counselor to the President, expressed her gratitude for the new role. "I'm honored to take on this responsibility and will continue my long-standing commitment to truth, justice, and ending the misuse of the justice system," she stated on Z време.

She graduated from Kent Place School in 2002, attended Lehigh University, and received a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 2005. Habba earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University Commonwealth Law School in 2010.

Before joining Trump's team, Habba worked as a law clerk in Essex County, New Jersey, and in private practice. In March 2020, she established her own firm, Habba, Madaio & Associates LLP. Starting in 2021, Habba served as a legal spokesperson for Trump and a senior advisor for MAGA, Inc., Trump's Super PAC.
