Trump petitions for leniency for Ukrainian soldiers - Putin consents - Trump appeals for clemency for Ukrainian soldiers; Putin shows approval.

In a startling turn of events, United States President Donald Trump has allegedly requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to extend kindness towards Ukrainian soldiers allegedly in Russian-surrounded militia of Kursk. Trump's appeal, published on Truth Social, cautioned of the dire predicament of the soldiers, stating, "Right now, countless Ukrainian soldiers find themselves trapped by the Russian military, teetering precariously." Trump pleaded with Putin to spare their lives to prevent a bloodbath.

Putin: Russia Set to Grant Indulgence to Ukrainian Soil

Addressing a Russian Security Council meeting, Putin discussed Trump's impassioned plea and consented. For an efficient implementation, members of Kyiv should command the Ukrainian soldiers encamped in Kursk to relinquish their arms and capitulate. However, the Ukrainian General Staff refuted the claim of being trapped.

Meanwhile, Putin highlighted the Ukrainian soldiers' wrongdoings against the innocent civilians. These acts of aggression have been classified as terrorism by the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, Putin disclosed. Yet, showing empathy towards Trump's heartfelt plea, Russia will spare the soldiers' lives for humanitarian reasons. In Putin's own words, "Should they surrender and capitulate, their lives will be spared, and they will be treated with human dignity in accordance with international law and the Russian legal framework." Putin again lauded Trump for his diligent efforts aimed at mending the strained relationship between Moscow and Washington, stating, "The process is nothing short of difficult."

ZelenskyTacitly Concedes Kursk Region's Plight

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a roundabout fashion, admitted the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Kursk region. "Our soldiers find themselves in a tremendously challenging scenario. All I can do is express my gratitude to our warriors for the successful outcome of the operations they have executed," the head of state told the press.

Initially, the Ukrainian leadership had rationalized their advance within the Russian border region in August last year, asserting that these territories could potentially be bargained in exchange for Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory. Ukrainian prisoners served as additional rationale for the high-risk maneuver, resulting in the loss of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers. Zelensky had consistently portrayed this as a monumental victory.

The roots of Trump's appeal to Putin remain unclear from the post. Later, Trump's representative Karoline Leavitt clarified that the request was made during discussions with Putin's special envoy Steve Witkoff on Thursday evening in Moscow. As per the Kremlin, Witkoff met with Putin in Moscow that same evening. Trump applauded the talks as "positive and fruitful." With optimism, he expressed that "the awful conflict might well be resolved."
