Trump and Kate Middleton Share a Seat at State Banquet
In the historic setting of St George's Hall in Windsor Castle, a grand banquet was held to welcome President Trump to the UK. The event, attended by 160 esteemed guests, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, was a night of opulent dining and entertainment.
The menu for the evening was a delightful fusion of British and American culinary traditions. The banquet began with a watercress Panna Cotta, followed by an organic Norfolk chicken ballotine. For dessert, guests were treated to a vanilla ice cream bombe with a Kentish raspberry sorbet interior. A special cocktail, the Transatlantic Whisky Sour, was created for the occasion, blending Johnnie Walker Black with marmalade, topped with a pecan foam, and garnished with a toasted marshmallow, evoking the taste of a s'more.
A personal touch was added after dinner with the serving of cognac, Hennessy 1912 Cognac Grande Champagne, from the President's mother's birth year.
The table was set with the traditional Grand Service, commissioned by King George IV, and adorned with flower arrangements handpicked from the gardens at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, and the Savile Garden in Windsor Great Park. The table was graced with 139 candles, symbolising the grandeur of the occasion.
Notable attendees included Tiffany Trump and her husband Michael Boulos, media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his wife Elena, and Apple CEO Tim Cook. Victoria Murphy, a frequent contributor to Good Morning America and author of the book The Queen: A Life in Pictures released in 2021, was also present. Murphy, a Contributing Editor at Town & Country, has reported on the British Royal Family since 2010 and has interviewed Prince Harry.
The First Lady was seated between Queen Camilla and the Prince of Wales, while President Trump was seated between King Charles and the Princess of Wales. Royals including Princess Anne, Tim Laurence, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were also in attendance.
The musical program for the evening included songs such as Nessun Dorma, a James Bond Medley, and Tiny Dancer, thought to be among Trump's favourites. The evening was a fitting celebration of the special relationship between the UK and the US, combining culinary delights, royal pageantry, and memorable entertainment.
