"Fans Can Protest" Trump Allows Pro-Palestine Supporters to Attend Club World Cup

U.S. President Donald Trump recently confirmed that fans who engaged in pro-Palestinian demonstrations can attend the upcoming Club World Cup without any issues. During a joint appearance with FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the White House, Trump stated, "People can protest. You have to do it in a reasonable way, not necessarily friendly, but reasonable."

Soccer enthusiasts are eager to participate in the Club World Cup, which is being organized in a new and expanded format from June 15 to July 13. Some of the notable teams participating include Germany's FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Politics and Protests

Trump’s administration has tightened its immigration and migration policies, leading to a decrease in overseas arrivals. With the Club World Cup taking place in the U.S., concerns have been raised about the impact of U.S. foreign policy and Trump's stance on Palestine on international events held in the country.

The U.S. has phased out the position of the U.S. security coordinator for the West Bank and Gaza Strip, signaling a downgrade in relations with the Palestinians. American sympathy for Palestinians has grown significantly, especially among Democrats and younger Americans, while support for Israel has declined. These shifts in policy and public opinion could contribute to heightened emotions around pro-Palestinian protests, especially during major international events hosted in the U.S.

Russia's Possible Participation

Unlike the Club World Cup, FIFA President Infantino has not ruled out the possibility of Russia participating in the 2026 World Cup in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. However, Russia's participation in the ongoing qualification for the 2026 World Cup seems uncertain at this point.

Trump also announced that Andrew Giuliani, the son of former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, will head the task force responsible for organizing the 2026 World Cup. The task force also includes Carlos Cordeiro, a FIFA advisor.
