President Donald Trump discussed the issue of crime in Chicago during an address on Air Force One on Thursday. Trump claimed that 11 people were murdered, 28 were shot, and a hundred were shot at in the city over the previous weekend.

The current mayor of Chicago, Brandon Johnson, has been a frequent target of Trump's criticism. Trump compared Johnson to London Mayor Sadiq Khan, stating that Johnson has done a terrible job. Johnson, however, did not mention Trump by name during a groundbreaking in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood.

Trump also referred to Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker's claim of having crime under control as questionable. He stated that crime went down in Chicago after more FBI agents were deployed, but he also mentioned that there are limits to what they can do.

Trump suggested that "our big, strong soldiers" are needed to improve the situation in Chicago. However, he also claimed that Washington D.C. is now safe after he sent in the National Guard last month.

Johnson has been critical of Trump since his inauguration in January. He stated that he will not allow tyranny to divide and conquer Chicago's communities. Trump, on the other hand, asserted that crime in London is at high levels.

President Trump stated that he will take the same approach in Memphis and Chicago. It is unclear what specific measures he plans to take to address the issue of crime in these cities.

Trump's statements about Chicago's safety come at a time when the city is grappling with high levels of violence. The city has seen a significant increase in shootings and homicides this year, leading to calls for action from local leaders and community members.

As the election season approaches, it is likely that the issue of crime will continue to be a topic of discussion between Trump and other political leaders. It remains to be seen how the situation in Chicago and other cities will be addressed in the coming months.
