Troubling Episode: Kevin Gausman, Blue Jays Pitcher, Experiences Nightmarish Inning, Culminating in Stumble Down Clubhouse Stairs

On a stormy Sunday at Yankee Stadium, Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gausman had a day to remember... or perhaps forget. The big right-hander found himself in hot water after a sour third inning, leading to a heated exchange with umpire Chris Conroy.

Blinded by fury, Gausman, sporting jersey number 34, marched off the mound, losing his footing mid-flight and tumbling down the clubhouse stairs, all for the world to see.

The mishap came after Gausman stumbled through a 53-pitch frame, a top spot in the Blue Jays' franchise records shared with Woody Williams from way back in 1998. In the disastrous third, he handed out six runs, five walks, and two hits to the Yankees roster.

That inning unraveled fast. After starting off efficiently, retiring six of his first seven batters, Gausman felt the heat, giving up six runs in the blink of an eye. One of the key blows was a critical three-run double by Austin Wells on a full-count fastball.

Conroy had enough of Gausman's pitching and arguments, and with a pointed finger, sent him packing. This didn't sit well with the pitcher, who expressed his discontent, resulting in his ejection. The incident was captured by cameras and shared far and wide, causing quite the stir among MLB fans.

Manager John Schneider wasn't immune to the drama either. In the fifth inning, he went toe-to-toe with the officials in a heated discussion over a called strike on Vladimir Guerrero Jr., earning himself an early exit from the game.

That disastrous inning didn't bode well for the team. Toronto faced the Yankees in a doubleheader in New York, and the Blue Jays ended up losing both games. Gausman had thrown 71 pitches in Sunday's Game 1 before meeting his untimely end on the mound.
