Trouble Brews for Prabhas's Raja Saab: Unraveling the Recent Legal Predicament
In a surprising turn of events, the much-anticipated movie "The Raja Saab," starring Prabhas, has faced a delay in its release due to a legal dispute between co-producers People Media Factory (PMF) and Ivy Entertainment.
The lawsuit, filed in the Delhi High Court, alleges that PMF has breached several contractual obligations, causing delays and controversy in the film's production and release. These breaches include PMF's failure to complete and release the film on time, not providing monthly production updates, and failing to disclose fund utilisation details, among others.
Ivy Entertainment, which invested over ₹218 crore under two agreements with PMF (film rights acquisition and theatrical rights acquisition), claims that these breaches have jeopardized their investment and are seeking a refund of the invested amount plus 18% annual interest due to these material breaches.
The movie, initially scheduled for release on April 10, 2025, has now been postponed to December 5, 2025. The teaser for "The Raja Saab" was released on June 16, promising a horror-comedy extravaganza.
In addition to Prabhas, the movie stars Nidhhi Agerwal, Sanjay Dutt, and Malavika Mohanan. The film is produced by People Media Factory with an annual budget of Rs. 400 crores.
Ivy Entertainment has also requested court mediation to stop PMF from "claiming and exploiting" any rights related to the movie "The Raja Saab." The company is hoping for a swift resolution to this legal dispute, allowing the film to be released and fans to enjoy the horror-comedy spectacle that "The Raja Saab" promises.
