Thailand is bracing for a week of heavy rainfall across various regions, as the upper North, including Tak, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, and Nan, remain near the monsoon trough, increasing the likelihood of flooding and runoff due to persistent rain. From July 5-7, rainfall will persist, especially in the upper North, upper Northeast, and eastern provinces.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Danas, the fourth named storm of the year, has intensified and is currently moving slowly west-northwestward towards Taiwan. As of 11am on July 5, the storm's centre was located at latitude 20.3°N, longitude 117.4°E, with maximum sustained winds near the centre of approximately 111 km/h. The storm, previously a typhoon, made landfall in Taiwan and is now heading towards China, expected to make landfall between July 8–9.

Although Danas will not directly enter Thailand, its presence is expected to strengthen the southwest monsoon over the country. The Meteorological Department of Thailand advises travelers to China and Taiwan to check local weather conditions before their departure. No direct impact on Thailand's weather is anticipated.

Rainfall is forecast to increase again in upper Thailand from July 10-12 due to a low-pressure system over the Gulf of Tonkin and northern Vietnam, combined with the persistent southwest monsoon. Rainfall will decrease across the Central Plains, but moderate to heavy rain is expected to continue in the North and upper Northeast, maintaining a risk of localised flooding from July 8-9.

In addition to the weather concerns, thirty-three Thai provinces are bracing for severe flooding and mudslides this week. The Government has advised travellers to exercise caution and stay updated on weather advisories.

On a lighter note, Thailand has topped ASEAN for most searched food and beverage experiences according to Traveloka.

As the weather situation continues to develop, it is essential for travellers to stay informed and plan their travel accordingly. Keep a close eye on local weather updates and advisories to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip.

Despite Tropical Storm Danas not directly affecting Thailand, its influence on the southwest monsoon may lead to increased rainfall in the country, particularly from July 10-12. On a different note, Thailand's politics and travel industry are unrelated, but the nation has been named as the ASEAN country with the most searched food and beverage experiences according to Traveloka.
