Tropical Heatwave Festival Expands in Ybor City’s Historic Cuban Club

Tropical Heatwave Music Festival has secured a $42,800 grant from the Hillsborough County Arts Council. The event, held at Ybor City’s historic Cuban Club, is expanding for its 2026 edition with new features and a stronger focus on community growth.

The festival takes place at the Cuban Club, a landmark built in 1902 by Pablo de la Portilla. Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, the venue adds cultural weight to the event. Organisers aim to boost attendance, extend visitor stays, and reinforce the festival’s role as an economic driver for the area.

The $42,800 grant will help fund expansions for 2026, including new attractions and improved facilities. The festival’s focus on local talent, volunteers, and businesses ensures its growth benefits the wider community. Organisers hope the changes will draw larger crowds and extend Ybor City’s cultural influence.
